What artworks would you have/do you have in your drawing room?

I don't have any artworks in my drawing room. I have some in the kitchen, paintings by friends which were precious gifts. But up here I only have a map of the EU member states, that was given out free on the street on the national day. If I could, I'd have a work by Franz Erhard Walther, that I could crawl inside of (and stay there). And maybe a Fred Sandback work. But the room is pretty small and I'm not sure it would fit.

What books would you read/are you reading in your drawing room?

Since a little while I've been reading The Magic Mountain. Seemed appropriate for the current period. But right now I am on a short break from it, and reading parts of Dodie Bellamy's When the Sick Rule the World. Another favorite from this genre is Wittgenstein's Nephew by Thomas Bernhard.

What movies would you watch/are you watching in your drawing room?

I imagine like many during the pandemic, I've sought comfort in nostalgia, so I've been into watching a lot of familiar light comedies such as Albert Brooks' Defending Your Life or The Muse. Breezy and peppered with light neurosis. Trying to keep calm. So I watched Kelly Reichardt's lovely vibey Old Joy. Then I got into mumblecore (or maybe I never got out of it). Funny Haha holds a special place in my heart, from the time I was 18, working the concession stand at the Brattle Theater in Cambridge. I just learned that Andrew Bujalski's thesis advisor was Chantal Ackerman - pretty crazy huh?

What music would you listen to/are you listening to in your drawing room?

My boyfriend Pete a.k.a. Lawrence just released a new album on the Japanese label Mule Musiq, it is called Birds on the Playground. I've been hearing the album come together over the last year, he even produced some of the songs sitting beside me. The other day he finally received the first pressings of the record and we played it on the turntable at home! It sounded so beautiful.

Who would you/do you invite into your drawing room?

Nobody's been up here in ages. I'm social distancing - big time.
