What artworks would you have/do you have in your drawing room?
House by Mathew Cerletty, Sail Baby by Elizabeth Murray, and every Matisse interior.
What books would you read/are you reading in your drawing room?
I’m on a good run of reading new books by female authors around my age- Priestdaddy by Patricia Lockwood, Motherhood by Sheila Heti, The Lonely City by Olivia Laing, The Idiot by Elif Batuman… it’s like these women have hacked inside my brain and articulated the jumble of anxieties in a more clear and beautiful way than I ever could.
What movies would you watch/are you watching in your drawing room?
I don’t have the attention span to watch movies by myself and no one will ever watch You’ve Got Mail with me, so I’ll take that with a bunch of friends.
What music would you listen to/are you listening to in your drawing room?
Ok I’m looking at my Spotify Recently Played so I don’t try to make myself sound cooler that I actually am: it appears that it’s all Julia Holter, Silver Jews, and Nick Cave this month.
Who would you/do you invite into your drawing room?
I get so sad that life is too short and I can’t hang on to everyone I’ve ever had a warm and fuzzy feeling about. That most of them are gone from me forever. So I’ll take all of them- every good conversation in a coffee shop, failed first date, summer camp friend. I get to live as long as I want in this scenario, and we talk until we’re totally exhausted of each other, then I get to be alone again, and then I’ll die.
